Blended by Design
Design a purposeful blend of face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous learning instead of digitising the same experience across every mode.
- Blended learning is a design, not a percentage — The question is not how much learning is online but why each mode is being used.
- Protect live time for what benefits from presence — Use synchronous time where immediacy, dialogue and responsiveness add value.
- Design asynchronous learning as learning — Asynchronous work should offer control, thought and meaningful action—not become a digital worksheet bin.
- Build bridges between modes — Learning fragments when online and face-to-face work feel like separate courses.
- Design for access and workload across the blend — A flexible mode can still create hidden barriers and excessive complexity.
