Evidence Before Action
Test whether the evidence is fit for the claim before committing time, money or learner experience to an intervention.
- Name the claim before the solution — Make the reasoning visible by stating what must be true for the proposed action to make sense.
- Match evidence to the claim — Ask whether the evidence measures the thing the claim is actually about.
- Inspect how the evidence was made — Data quality includes definitions, missingness, consistency, timing and the human processes that create records.
- Calibrate confidence and uncertainty — Separate promising evidence from conclusive evidence and make uncertainty explicit.
- Set the action threshold — Decide how much evidence is enough based on cost, reach, reversibility and risk.
