From Champions to Change
Turn isolated pockets of enthusiastic practice into a wider movement by designing peer influence, low-risk entry points, visible examples and support for the middle.
- Use champions as translators, not trophies — Champions are most useful when they make practice understandable and locally credible.
- Design for the middle — The early and late majority determine whether a change becomes standard practice.
- Create a low-risk first try — Trialability lowers the cost of beginning and gives people evidence from their own practice.
- Reduce friction where the movement stalls — Templates, coaching, time and clear expectations can matter more than another motivational message.
- Build normal practice, not permanent dependency on champions — A movement becomes sustainable when examples, support and expectations live in the system.
