Purpose Before Platform

Start with the learning goal, learner need and evidence before deciding whether technology belongs in the lesson at all.

• Start with the learning, not the tool — A platform is not a learning objective.
• Name what technology is expected to contribute — Be precise about why the digital choice is there.
• Compare digital, analogue and hybrid options — Technology is one design option, not the default condition.
• Count the instructional costs as well as the benefits — Every technology choice introduces demands as well as possibilities.
• Decide how you will know the choice helped — Purposeful integration includes evidence, not just intention.
